Did you know Sasco Africa and SA Scale Company are one and the same?
The journey of Sasco Africa began in 1906 when W & T Avery in England dispatched Mr C.E. Graham to South Africa to initiate a direct sales branch. This venture rapidly expanded into repair and service, marked by selling its first weighbridge in 1907. By 1918, the growing scope necessitated a rebranding to SA Scale Company Limited, diversifying beyond Avery’s products and becoming popularly known as S.A.S.C.O.
The company blossomed under Mr. Graham’s stewardship, establishing a comprehensive network of branches by his retirement in 1948. The subsequent decades saw S.A.S.C.O expand internationally and enjoy robust growth, culminating in the establishment of an in-house technician training facility by 1974.
However, a strategic shift occurred in 1975 with a new focus on manufacturing, signified by opening a large facility at Apex Park in Benoni and under the SA Scale name; this period contrasted sharply with previous successes, marred by substantial losses and drift from core operations.
Today, Sasco Africa stands as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of its founding vision, which is continuously innovating and leading in the weighing industry. We invite you to celebrate this rich heritage with us as Sasco Africa continues to set benchmarks in the industry, ready to embrace future challenges.
