Sasco was approached by a leading food processing group, which was not a Sasco weighing client, with a request to design, develop and install an “end-to-end” software system that would deliver:

• Complete unmanned automation of all vehicles arriving and leaving from their existing weighbridges.
• Prevent the access over the weighbridges of any vehicles that are not pre-approved.
• Eliminate the prospect of any potential fraud occurring on these weighbridges
• Retain the existing four non-Sasco weighbridges.

It was decided that due to the level of automation, Sasco ProWeigh+ would not offer the development flexibility. The system was accordingly developed using the Sasco MultiWeigh platform:

• The solution that was deployed to the site allows vehicles to register their vehicle and transaction prior to arriving at any weighbridges.
• Each vehicle is then identified based on either automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) or a QR Code that the driver scans.
• The vehicle flow onto and off the weighbridges are controlled via the automation of traffic lights and booms and all weighing transactions include snapshot images of the vehicle being weighed for auditing.
• A web-based portal was also set up where staff can query weighing transactions and draw reports various reports.
